Holly is a ceramicist based in the Forest of Dean, with roots that stretch back to the coastline of Cornwall.
Her love of ceramics was born during a residency at Falmouth University, where she was studying Fine Art. At the time, her practice was rooted in working with natural materials - found and foraged objects gathered on walks along the Cornish coastline. It was during this residency that she began to experiment with combining these foraged materials with ceramics, discovering a new way to translate the landscape directly into her work through earth pigments and other natural finds.
Since returning home to the Forest of Dean, Holly has continued to let her surroundings lead her practice. The shift in landscape - from coastal Cornwall to the dense woodland and earthy tones of the Forest - has opened up new directions in her work. She has broadened her material palette to include various clay bodies, glazes, foraged slips and oxides, each chosen for the way they echo the textures and colours of her environment. Alongside this, she has been exploring form and shape, searching for the silhouettes and surfaces that feel most true to her practice.
The result is a body of work that feels quietly grounded - tactile, considered, and deeply connected to the places Holly calls home.
